In Chiloé are many myths and legends, one
of them is the myth of the invunche. He is a boy that take care of the entrance
of the cave of the sorcerers chilotes. The invunche only leaves the cave when
this is dicovered or detroyed by the chilotes or when the sorcerers go to a
meeting, in these routes the invunche screams and this alerts the chilotes that
something bad will happen.
When the sorcerers need an invunche, they buy or steal the first born son and so that him doesn’t escape they broke his leg and join it to the back.
It’s said that if
someone wants to enter the cave of sorcerers, the first person must pass and make
a reverence and the second one must kiss him anus.The conection to the reality is that sometimes when the kid of a family disappear, then the family had good luck, also many people believe in sorcerers and say they have heard the screams of the invunche before the tragedy.
This is my favorite chilote myth because unlike the others, this one causes me sadness and not fear, I was always sorry to think that a child was sold and deformed, it is like human trafficking.
